SHADES OF 2004 AS GREECE CONQUER PORTUGAL AGAIN

Fifteen years on from one of the greatest achievements in Greek sporting history - and one of world football’s most celebrated underdog stories - Greece’s Legends 2004 celebrated the 15th anniversary of their Euro 2004 triumph in style on Thursday with a 2-1 victory over Portugal Legends.

All proceeds from ticket sales from the match go to children's charity organisation Merimna.

Kostas Katsouranis’ emphatic finish after 17 minutes put Greece in front in the first half. And Angelos Charisteas, the hero of the 2004 final, prodded home from close-range to double the advantage just after half-time.

Helder Postiga pulled a goal back for the Portuguese with a stunning individual strike after 53 minutes, while Vasilis Tsiartas missed a penalty for Greece in a dramatic second half as the hosts held on for another famous victory in front of 10,000 fans at the Georgios Kamaras stadium in Athens.
